Prescription Glasses or simply know as "glasses" are optic wear that I use daily for vision correction.
Brief Analysis of Prescription Glasses
- Usually, prescription glasses are made up of plastic lenses mounted on a metallic or plastic frame. Plastics are made up of raw materials such as oils, natural gas, or plants.
- The most important part of manufacturing prescription glasses is the lenses. Technicians select a piece of polycarbonate plastic. Then using a lensometer shape the lenses specifically to the prescriptions.
- People usually keep on using their glasses as without them operating a normal life can be challenging.
Key Features that Promote Sustainability
- Durability of eyeglasses and their ability to sustain years of continuous use.
- The ability to change just a specific part such as the lenses rather than the whole glasses.
- Can be produced at low costs promoting accessibility to most people.
Features that Reduce Sustainability
- Due to the recent adaptation of plastic as a main consistent of eyeglasses, the ability to recycle them has become harder in certain countries. Frames will most likely end in landfills.
- People go through numerous eyeglasses throughout their life depending on the latest fashion and trends.
- Eyeglasses usually come with a lot of protective packaging that currently and most likely are going to end in landfills.
