Key Findings from the Interview

  1. When I say "sustainable fashion" what comes to mind?

“Definitely fast fashion, brands like Shein or other online brands that sell clothes for super cheap because of the cheap and bad way they produce the clothing they sell.”

  1. Is buying clothes sustainably an important issue to you? Why or why not? *

“Somewhat, since I do love shopping and clothes, but I think a lot of the time I would rather just shop for clothes I like rather than worry about how sustainable the clothing I buy is. Sometimes it can be really easy to like a piece of clothing and ignore the environmental impacts it has.

  1. Do you yourself shop for clothes sustainably and promote sustainable fashion? Do you do this in everyday life?

“In the past not really but recently I’ve been hearing more about fast fashion in particular, so I am trying to cut down on the amount of companies I buy from that use fast fashion and I’ve been trying to find still big companies that use better production techniques.”

  1. Is there more that you think you could do to help contribute to sustainable fashion?

“As a teenager living under the ownership of my two parents I honestly don’t think there’s a whole lot more I can do other than what I’m doing now, trying to shop and find stores that don’t use fast fashion? I think other than that I could talk to more people about it and be more aware of it.”

  1. Finally, have you ever encountered problems regarding fashion and sustainability?

“Honestly no, I only read about fast fashion and problems with the fashion industry online or through friends.”
