Key Findings from the Interview
- What does sustainability mean to you?
- Sustainability is when something is maintained at a certain level, and wouldn’t run out of. For example, solar energy is sustainable as we would never run out of.
- What does the word “eco-consciousness” mean to you?
- I think eco-consciousness is having awareness of the environment, and considering the impact before making decisions - whether the action you perform will impact the environment positively/negatively
- Do you think your local community is doing well in being eco-conscious?
- I think the local community is not doing well in being eco-conscious as majority of the businesses only considers the price of the products. For example, they would choose plastic over glass, single used bags over reusable bags. The impact of environment is not considered when it comes to personal concerns.
- If I told you that a space would be created with the aim to increase eco-conciousness would you be willing to support it? Why?
- Yes because I think it is important to raise awareness about this issue as people do not realize that every small action can cause significant impacts. It would definitely make the world a better place and make the far-reaching SDGs achievable
- What would you suggest the space be? Why?
- I would suggest the space to be in any high populated public areas such as malls, libraries, plazas, and popular shops. For example, in HeyTea they would put a stand that states the cups and straws they use are biodegradable.
