Prototyping Goals

Why am I creating a prototype?

The type of feedback that will be most helpful for refining and improving my product idea is:

  1. Whether the prototype is self-explanatory:
    1. In which the user knows what to do when they see the prototype.
  2. Whether the prototype help make the user more eco-concious about their actions:
    1. To what extent the user now understands how their actions affect the environment,
    2. And to what extent they would take that understanding with them into their daily life.
    3. Whether the cafe generates excitement: Would the user go back again?

Prototype Features

What product features will I prototyping? And why? What do I hope to learn from testing this feature?

Feature 1: Labeled cups and trashcan

  • Reason: this feature is tested because it is one of the features that indicate whether the user can be affected by the eco-concious environment and atmosphere of the cafe.
  • I hope to observe whether users will understand what is presented to them visually on the labels of the cup and throw the cup into the correct trashcan.

Feature 2: Coffee grind as dirt for a take home plant After the flower blooms the user earns a free cup of coffee

  • Reason: this feature is tested mainly to see whether users would be willing to come back for the coffee, and whether they would spread the word around the compound for more people to visit the cafe.
  • I hope to see whether the user would recommend and encourage others to join in.

Prototype Media

How will you prototype and share these features with others to get their feedback?

Presentation format

The presentation will give the directions and the user will proceed by following the directions on the presentation. It will also be used to provide extra information about my product.

Physical prototype

Only Feature 1 will have a physical prototype, where the user can interact with the prototype. The prototype will include: two cups (one labeled, one not), A4 sheet of paper with the labels of three categories of trash separation, as well as a cloth to veil the labeled cup.

  • The user will be asked to place the cups in the trash can, learn more about this feature in Design Project 1 | Prototype Work In Progress.
