Journal Entry For
Project 1 - Testing Session 2
What did you observe?
What did you observe and note as you watched users interact with your prototypes?
- Examination of the bag led to some of the best feedback
- The box itself as a concept was mostly underwhelming and maybe added too much complexity to the situation or felt intimating vs. looking at a single product like a better plastic bag.
What feedback did your users share after the testing?
What feedback did your users share after they've had a chance to interact with and explore your prototypes?
Feedback #1 from Glenn:
- How long will things last in this environment? could it buy me a week or 10 days?
- Cooks and and home chefs cares about vegetables
- fruits like raspberries and other things get moldy quickly
- Like the idea as a system; how about different types of containers that could fit in it in different ways?
- Avoiding cross contamination in the fridge is another interesting use for the device
User feedback for the bags:
- color wheel or pin wheel on bags that indicates humidity and temperature so you can look at bag and decide on health of food
Smart bag/container:
- has more functionality
- more durability
- 3 bags and a little container that adds enough value to be used for everything
- servable containers could be interesting (from fridge to table?)
- that suddenly doesn’t feel like a throwaway/disposable item anymore
Focus on consumer: similar tech but different value proposition to commercial
The food locker for your special produce, fruits, and vegetables!
Feedback #2 from Jessica:
- For $35 wouldn’t probably buy box because there are other alternatives for this problem
- It’s just Tupperware…you can just use desiccant pellets
- What would make mom’s life a little easier?
- Box would be intimidating to teenagers (don’t want to mess up anything)
- Would pay an extra $5 for a smart bag instead of a regular disposable plastic bag
- Different use case would be campaign / traveling / portable solution for produce, fruits, and vegetables
Additional notes:
- Try Figma.com to demo software applications
Pitch ideas:
- How many pounds of fruits and vegetables do Americans throw out every year? How about globally?
- What was your use of design thinking that might have shifted or adapted your product idea?
