Project 1 - Domain / Area of Opportunity

The domain that I’d like to focus on is….

A domain that I would like to focus on is water conservation. With the Earth’s water supply being limited, we need to be sustainable regarding our consumption and use of water so as to make sure that supply lasts us a good while. I think there are two main branches of research for water: drinkable and non-drinkable. Products like water bottles with the capability to purify and kill bacteria within water have been created for drinkable water sources. Things like drip irrigation have been created to be more sustainable in agriculture. I’m not entirely sure which path I’d like to pursue yet, but both seem appealing!

This area is important/interesting to me because….

This area is important to me because I continue to see a disparity between countries regarding water supply and pollution. Many first-world countries like the U.S. don’t really have a shortage, while cities in the middle of India or Africa require people to walk for miles to find water. Additionally, I’ve done a project looking into different desalination methods for water, so the knowledge I’ve gained so far is a motivating factor for my interests.

Here are some things that I’ve looked into:

I’m also interested in Wind Energy :)
