Point of View Statement

💡
Fred needs an environmentally responsible, yet more importantly, financially/materialistically rewarding method for disposing of his used frying oil. They would be willing to participate in the sustainable behavior of giving away their used frying oil to produce biofuel sustainably given appropriate incentives. This will satisfy his (1) cost-consciousness behaviors and achieve a greater goal of creating a (2)desire to reduce waste and lessen its environmental impact. These behavioral aspects can be harmonized into a beneficial practice with the proper incentive structure.”

The simplest version of this product that delivers value and meets the challenges of this POV statement will have these essential features:

The name of our company is OilRevive. Our services are going to be provided through an app. There will be B2B and B2C services. Our B2B services are going to concern restaurant owners and fast-food chains. We will provide them with collection bins whose dimensions are custom-designed to fit perfectly with our biofuel machinery for ease of dumping the used frying oil. When the collection bin has been filled with oil, the restaurant owner or manager would go to their mobile app and file a pick-up order. After receiving the pick-up order, our team will be there within 24 hours to pick up the used oil dumping container, replace it with a new clean one, and ship the collected oil to one of our nearest processing facilities to their location. In return, 10% of the profit generated from recycling the oil collected from the respective restaurants will be wired to the bank account pre-specified previously by the owner/manager of the facility in their app dashboard. This reimbursement assessment will take place by the end of every month. Moreover, they will also be part of our Green Honor List, i.e. as an eco-friendly green-verified facility. This list will be made available for the public where people like Jeremy would enjoy going to, guilt-free.

As for our B2C services, these will be provided for households. A quota of no less than five liters per household would be required to place in a pick-up order. Once placed, our team will pass by within 24 hours to collect the used oil and ship it to the nearest facility for further processing. Moreover, conveniently placed drop-off kiosks will be provided after getting the needed clearances from the city council. These will serve households that produce amounts that are less than five liters. Aware that many households would be consuming fried foods quite frequently within the week and the oil amounts will not accumulate to the required quota while needing to throw out the oil used at the earliest convenience this solution could be just what they need. These kiosks will be placed so that at most five minutes of walking will be needed. In return, households would be given various options to reward their environmental behavior. These could range from getting a basket of household goods to grocery shopping coupons, cash rewards, and so on.

After the oil has been collected and processed in our state-of-the-art facilities, the produced biofuel will be sold to biofuel stations nationwide. Our distribution channels will deliver the bought oil to them to serve the forecasted demand.

  • Feature 1 - Easy Pickup/Drop-off Scheduling
    • The app will allow users to conveniently schedule pickups of used frying oil directly from their restaurant/fast food facilities and households. The drop-off kiosks would have volume sensors that alert the team when the storage containers are at or near total capacity. The app can send reminders for pickup times, is elderly and disabled-friendly, and is quick and easy to use especially for those like Sara and Jack, who value convenience.
