Educational Background: I am going into my senior year of high school at Yorkville Highschool in Illinois. I have been in the same school district since first grade and my school has given me many wonderful opportunities for advanced classes and engineering specific PLTW classes.
Industry Experience: In short answer: none. I have had two different high school jobs, a lifeguard at a waterpark, and as a gymnastics coach. While I have loved both my jobs, neither have given me any particular engineering or sustainability industry experience. What they have been good for is allowing me to learn better ways to interact with a variety of people.
Interest in Course: I am interested in this course for a few reasons. For one, I truly believe that we need to work harder than ever before on creating a sustainable environmentally friendly world so that we can aid in the climate crisis. Secondly, I prefer hands on and interactive learning and that is what I believed this course was going to have more of so I knew it would be a good fit.
Goals: I want to push the creative part of my mind to try harder and be more open to unconventional but inventive ideas. I would also simply like to learn more of the design process as a whole and the steps it takes to get from start to finish.
