- POV 1:
- How might we avoid pests or rodents messing up the garden?
- Elevate the garden beds on slippery poles to prevent squirrels and other rodents from being able to climb up
- Wrap some of the outdoor gardens in mesh to prevent animal attacks
- Keep more sensitive plants in the greenhouse away from plants
- Spread out similar families of plants to prevent the chance of infection
- POV 2:
- How might we build awareness about the community garden and its programs?
- We will have advertisements and social media as well as being posted on the city website
- Huge banners put up on fencing within a 10 mile radius of the gardens
- Advertising at schools within a 10 mile radius (taking flyers home to parents)
- Expand digital marketing programs - have teenagers run social media platforms promoting workshops
- Emails sent out to those on mailing lists for the community garden
- POV 3:
- How might we boost workshop attendance across all demographics (kids, teenagers, adults?)
- We have workshops catered to specific age groups which include activities they are interested in
- If they need to pay: First session free
- Have a strong word-of-mouth, organic marketing type beat (market to moms, grandmas, Auntie Ednas)
- Recreational activities for kids
- POV 4:
- How might we keep the community gardens sustainable (resilience and eco-friendly features) and ensure its longevity?
- The indoor facility will be run by solar energy
- The garden will be run year round and the crops will be shared with community members
- Have a baseline of dedicated and motivated volunteers who are happy to keep sustaining the garden - by having consistent attendees, families can drop in and out of the workshops and garden participation without any guilt or stress
- Have an irrigation system to collect excess run-off water and re-use it for watering
