The domain that I’d like to focus on is….

Reducing physical waste in landfills. I’m interested in exploring two different directions, whether it be developing a system to more efficiently dispose of waste to maximize its potential or reducing the overall waste by developing adaptable products that can last for several years.

This area is important/interesting to me because….

Not only does excessive waste in landfills cause immense problems to the local environment, including high methane production as it decomposes and choking hazards to animals, but the high concentration of trash often leads to leeching of toxic chemicals into waterways, which can cause immense health issues for humans and wildlife.
