Biggest problems in residential health & lifestyle areas
  • Too many residents, not enough space.
  • Not personalised enough.
  • The lifestyle and health services should be sufficient enough so people don’t have to go elsewhere, but not so ‘luxurious’ that it raises the rent/apartment price a lot. We must strike a balance.
  • Must be spacious enough, but not so much that its unsustainable.

Design Thinking Concept 1

Multi-purpose gym spaces with transformative equipment

Key question: How might we make shared health spaces spacious enough but also sustainable and space-conserving?

Design Thinking Concept 2

Fitness tools incorporated into rooms or common living spaces

Design Thinking Concept 3

Healthy practices such as sustainable eating (eg posters at Arillaga dining), healthy & fresh options etc

Design Thinking Concept 1

Home workout spaces

  • systems such as tonal or mirror that mount to the wall
    • they take up little space and don’t disturb the overall aesthetic of the home

Design Thinking Concept 2

Question: In such a small space, how can we allow for a growing collection of “stuff”

Design Thinking Concept 3

Question: How do we encourage sustainable habits that are also convienient?

  • teenagers often just order food on delivery apps for convinenence
    • what if instead we encouraged them to cook for themselves
    • in the smart home system (like alexa or google home) you can easily find recipies
    • the system will tell you the recipies that you can make given the ingredients in your fridge/the ingredients in the garden
    • there can also be a home composting machine that makes composting as convenient as throwing away trash
