- Mini-Proposal:
- Describe what you want to design and the context (who, where, when, why & how). Include (a) a sentence about your team’s personal connection to this context, (b) the sustainability element, and (c) a project code-name. <100 words.
- Work Plan:
- Project Management Practice - Make a table of action items, deliverables, start & completion dates, & who will have primary responsibility for driving & delivering. The header action items should include each of the design thinking components in our process; list specific tasks as sub-items.
Example:
We love playing games. And we are committed to sustainability lifestyles. Our team will design a sustainability gamification teaching & research laboratory in XYZ at Stanford University for students interested in learning & developing product designs that emphasize UX-motivated playability in sustainability human-behavior & human-mindset change. Our team is interested in applying positive psychology with AI machine learning & personal sensor technologies to design frameworks & solutions for clinical & real-world applications in education, healthcare & community well-being, among others. This is PROJECT PINBALL WIZARD.
Example:
Start | End | Action Item | Deliverable | Assign |
7/22 | 7/24 | Empathy: Observe activity in XYZ | DJ Note | CO |
7/22 | 7/24 | Empathy: Sketch XYZ | DJ Note | GK |

Mini-proposal:
- Describe what you want to design and the context (who, where, when, why & how). Include (a) a sentence about your team’s personal connection to this context, (b) the sustainability element, and (c) a project code-name. <100 words.
- thrifting
- recycling
- auction
- just normal shopping
- organic produce grocery
Example:
Who doesn’t love shopping? We always feel uncomfortable in the malls. Eyes are irritated by the artificial light, AC is too strong, too many bright colors and you just do not feel welcomed. They are simply not sustainable. And we are committed to sustainability lifestyles. Our team will design a Sustainable Mall in Emirates or a new building for Stanford Shopping Center (still brainstorming). We will integrate eco-friendly practices and advanced technologies. The mall will feature rooftop solar panels to harness renewable energy, energy-efficient LED lighting, and a smart energy management system to optimize consumption. Water conservation efforts will include rainwater harvesting and sewer recycling for irrigation.
We are talking not only about technical composition of the building but the psychological aspects of the different types of shopping too.
Types of shopping:
Tech of the Mall
- solar pv - battery
- water management
- natural lightning
- LED lighting
- heat pumps
- ventilation
- tree/flower garden
- EV charging
Project code name: [Al-Khoshuf]
Reference for a mental picture:
- observation, survey
- vision (prototype) - moodboard, building, shopping experience, whats better about us than others?
