Journal Entry For
Prototyping Plan
Process:
- Sketched entire idea
- Cut out the frame of the plate using cardboard and a box cutter
- Trimmed each rectangular tile to fit easily into each slot
- Glued an identically-sized cardboard sheet to the back of the plate to ensure tiles stay in place
- Added temporary pencil labels to each of the tiles
- Designed to-scale images of dishes for Panda Express
- Printed out a paper exterior to the plate w/ Panda Express Logo
- Printed labels + images that go on each tile on google slides
- Could not find a ruler so I used sticky notes that were folded at each half-inch mark (they are 2”x2”)
- Created more tiles pertaining to the most popular orders
- Added labels for more convenience + easier identification of what is a side/entree
- Measured lines and drew indications on cardboard + slant for replenishing tiles
- Created loading station + receiving area
- Finished product!!!
Forms I want tested:
- Shape (is it convenient/feel nice to handle?)
- Images (can the customer immediately see what they are ordering?)
- Labels (does the customer know what is an entree or a side?)
- Style (is this visually appealing to the customer?)
Functions I want tested:
- Categorization (can the food worker know IMMEDIATELY what the customer ordered?)
- Speed (is this quicker than 1-on-1 ordering at a fast food restaurant? Will this reduce the possibility of a line?)
- Replenishing (does the loading station replenish itself with tiles effectively?)
- Assembly (is the customer easily able to create their order? Will they have fun mixing and matching?)
