After I finished dinner, I settled down at Wilbur Field. I sat in a lawn chair by the sand volleyball courts. Everyone was so happy as they were playing. I became aware of my own loneliness and called my girlfriend after a bit. I noticed how the road was blocked off from the people playing by a line of trees. I thought it was interesting how we separate streets from places we care about. I believe it is sad that we create such a division of space within our urban environments. There is such little space dedicated for pedestrian transit. Often the street creates culture because that is where everyone has to go. Even right behind my lawn chair, I noticed a narrow road behind me where cars would drive by 10ft away from me. Wilbur Field is an island surrounded by machines.
