When designing my Sustainable Built Environment Learning and Exhibition Center, the first thing need to be considered is the location. The proposed location for the center is right next to the Zhongguancun North Rd as shown in the figure below. There are a couple of reasons why I choose this location. First of all, this place is located in my hometown Beijing, so I am super familiar with it and would be easier to find some related data or background information. Secondly, this place is in Haidian district, the cultural center of Beijing. With relatively a high education level, people here are more interested about our learning and exhibition center, and we could show our project to more people. Last but not the least, this location is right between Tsinghua University and Peking University, the top2 universities in China. Tsinghua University has long been my dream school, and I have been there for thousands of times. I am confident that our center can act as an irreplacable role in this educational Mecca.
The overall sustainability goal that I want to achieve through my design is to be environmental friendly. This design is supposed to be cost-effective for construction and maintaining, have less impact on the environment and surrounding society, use less energy during operation, and be educational and meaningful as well. In order to fulfill the requirement, I come up with the following strategies:
1.Utilizing Natural Light
We can use some glasses or even hollow out in order to utilize the natural light. If we can imvrease the utilization of natural light, the usage of electricity and even heating can be reduced in a certain amount.
- Green Decoration and Water Coverage
