Module 4 - Points to Ponder

What types of building information are best portrayed in 3D views?

Building information best portrayed in 3d views are renders such as 3d views from the inside of the building that showcase the furniture and lighting of the building. Contractors require 2D views in order to know where their rough-ins are going to go and the layout of walls.

Give examples of how the building information for a specific location in the project needs to be filtered for different audiences and purposes?

The best example for where building needs to be filtered is a home kitchen. The client filtered view does not need to include the plumbing and electrical work, they are more concerned with the final product that they will receive such as the furniture and fixtures. Contractor views need to be filtered according to their trade, other wise drawings can become vary clustered, for example, the electrical plans will be separate from the plumbing plans.

Name some applications where viewing the building and model information in virtual reality or augmented reality would be most beneficial?

Augmented reality can be used with and AR headset to view an existing sight and see where your HVAC/Electrical/Plumbing will go. VR is used for stakeholders who cannot access the sight directly. C.A.V.E is very beneficial for clients to get a feel of the layout of the building (plan views) such as the walls and square footage of each room.
