Practice Exercise: Plumbing Systems

I noticed that the location of restrooms on each level are stacked (located directly above each other on each floor), so I can copy Level 0 plumbing to Level 1.  Below are screenshots of the plumbing system as seen in Revit and BIM360:

I began by connecting the plumbing fixtures into designated pipes and found it convenient to use the “connect into” tool. I modified some sanitary pipes connect to the lavatory to ensure it is accessible for users with disabilities or limited mobility. The figure below shows my modification of sanitary pipes connect to the lavatory:

Also, I noticed that the lavatory for the women's and men's restrooms are located at different locations. I decided to change the position of the pipes so that the hot water would travel a shorter distance. This image shows how I changed the location of the sanitary, cold water, and hot water pipes to be on opposite ends to minimize the use of pipes:

This practice exercise was relatively straightforward since most of the connections were made automatically, and the restrooms were directly above each other. Therefore, I did not run into any significant challenges during this practice exercise. The only tricky thing is that at first, I did not realize that the plumbing fixtures are mirrored in the men’s and women’s washrooms. I had to swap the position of the pipes so that the hot water would travel a shorter distance.
