My project will help designers and contractors to improve construction speed and reduce material waste by placing elements with the minimum waste.
The project is a configurator type solution to be runned on dynamo player.

Improve construction speed and reduce waste and scrap in a steel structure.
Inputs
The inputs will be the long, width and height of a building, columns distribution and beam systems, also the steel elements to be used in each element type, such as columns, mean beam, and secondary beams. A very important input is the factory length elements because from this length will be calculated the number of joints/cuts that will be necessary to weld/cut.
Underlying logic of the model you’ll implement
The script will calculate a waste value on each type of element by measuring the amount of material that cannot be used in the system. For example it there is a piece of beam that cannot be used in any other place in the system will be considered as waste. The final outcome will be divide the total length of waste between the total length of the system in order to get the percentage of waste overall system.
Outputs
The output will be the waste index, and fabrication index of each element type.
