Description
Abiding by the clandestine nature of many research facilities, this design helps the occupants operate discreetly by blending in with American ranch and mid-century modern homes. A ramp at the front as well as wide doors and an ADA-compliant bathroom ensure that occupants can work comfortably. Additionally, sliding doors on the building’s north side and a large bay window on the south side help ensure sufficient ventilation, further contributing to the occupants’ comfort. More so, a curtain wall faces west to help natural lighting and expose some nature. Skylights on the far end of the building help bring light to the bathroom and closet while maintaining some privacy. A subtle gutter system also runs along the bottom of the rood. Photovoltaics meanwhile help sustain the building’s research operations. At only around 520 sqft., the building can comfortably seat 11 in addition to the large desks and the 8-ft communal table with a sink.
