Key Findings from the Interview
What does Sustainability mean to you?
He says that sustainability means that us as humans should be able to sustain the world we were given, or generally be able to keep what we have if not make it better. Basically, to be sustainable is to keep the legacy of humanity going
Is there anything you are doing right now to live a more sustainable lifestyle?
He says he is walking much more often to get to places, as well as reducing his reliance on air conditioning, in order to decrease personal carbon emissions
Is there anything you think should be done to promote sustainability in your home? In larger society?
In his home, he is trying to get my parents to use less air conditioning as well as walk to stores more. It is more difficult to change things in larger society, he says, as alternative options are expensive but overall he hopes we as a civilization can try to use less carbon emissions
You say that alternative options are more expensive. What do you mean by alternative options? How do you think they could be made more affordable and accessible?
"Alternative options meaning solar power. I mean hydroelectric is another possibility but would pose an entire new set of challenges. I mean if some measures were set to make solar panels easier to produce then much would be solved however we should also remember how efficient these solar panels are"
