Curved Forms

I wanted to explore different ways the building could be adjacent to the late while utilizing views and shading. The form will likely be more challenging to make in terms of buildability due to its organic shape, but usability and sustainability are to be optimized for long-term gains. Its high cost here is due to the exasperated size I accidentally gave it but is a reminder to aim for under 5m for Architecture 2030 standards according to Insight.

These results highlight that I must give attention to internal heat gains, heating, and other solar gains that need to be taken advantage of.

I ultimately want to keep the structure as one unit with different levels rather than the broken-apart alternatives I have also tried. It should be as close to the lake setback as possible.

Based on my data, to reach goals to help reach Architecture 2030, I will need to find ways to provide ample sun shading, but most importantly passive heat as it makes up almost a third of my energy cost. The building will need to utilize as much PV surface area as possible to reduce energy costs. For any chance of becoming net zero, the building will have to use technology such as night flushing to help reduce the building's heating and energy cost that will be provided by renewable sources of energy.
