What are the principal advantages of creating a conceptual design model using masses before diving into the detailed design and building element modeling?

  • it helps in showing it to clients before building the project in detail and putting in so much tim into the project before having to possibly trash it.

Should all buildings be modeled first using conceptual masses?

When is it needed/appropriate? And when not?

For example, should you create a conceptual mass model of a small house?

  • I believe all buildings should be mass modeled in some way, to ensure clients are satisfied before the project is completely crafted, and to run some analyses and easily edit the without having to rebuild entire facades
