Design Journal Entry - Module 7

Journal Entry For
Module 7 - Building Envelope Systems

For 2 Units

Please share your design showing the features of the proposed building envelope, including the locations and characteristics of:

  • the wall and roof surfaces
  • the openings/glazed surfaces
    • windows and/or curtain walls
    • doors
    • skylights
  • any shading or sun control features

Modeling is still progressing due to the ASC competition last week. Issues arose and will be dealt with over the weekend. Curently my design is utilizing exterior glazing and storefront curtain walls as well as brick and CMU on mtl stud and brick on mtl stud exterior walls.

Windows are incorporated as the following characteristics: window-casement doudles, windows fixed, and windows double hung. These will be adjust and updated once the model has been redesigned over the weekend. They are and will be positioned to capture the heat during the winter and slightly during the summer depending on the location such as the pool which will capture it year round with the glass, but not the bowling alley which will not in the winter.

Roof system utilizes a steel truss with insulation on a metal deck and insulated panels of R-36 rating. The top portion you see as a mass still is wanting to be a steel structure on which to hold PVs and some greenery vines; unsure how to model that yet if I just incorporate into the structural system in the following weeks or not, just there as a placeholder for now.

I want to stay with the same general concept, but some modeling pieces of my current Revit are difficult to work with and I will be redesigning my model over the weekend.
