The Design Decision I Studies
The design decision I studies is construction planning. The study inputs are Base X-Axis Radius, Mid Curve Height, and Top Rotation. The study outputs are Floor Area / Volume, Cost Per Insolation, and Cost Per Floor Area.

As shown in the scatter plot, the X axis represents the ratio or floor area / volume. The Y axis represents the cost per floor area. The dot size represents the cost per insolation. And the color represents the ellipse radius in X direction on the base. The tradeoff can be seen from the dot color. As the dot color getting redder and redder, the floor area to volume ratio goes down, which means we cannot get a high floor area to volume ration with small radius at base. The dots seem to line up in a decreasing trend, which means that typically higher floor area to volume ratio will lead to lower cost per floor area. Also, it seems to have bigger dots on the top right than those on the bottom left, which means smaller floor area to volume ratio can lead to lower cost per insolation. We are seeking for a design to minimize the cost per floor area and cost per insolation but maximize the floor area / volume ratio. Based on our goal and the study result, I propose to use the cases on the bottom right, which have small cost per floor area and insolation, and higher floor area to volume ratio. If giving the site layout, we can further decide which case to use with regard to the ellipse radius in X direction on the base.
