Module 3 - Project Goals Targets & Strategies
List your three or four guiding design goals using this format for each goal:
Goal 1: Minimizing Energy Consumption
- Measure: EUI
- Targets:
- minimally acceptable value: Median Source EUI from Energy Star: 109.6 kBtu/ft^2
- desired / target value: 90 kBtu/ft^2
- Strategies:
- Analyzing the sun path of the site to place the building properly to minimize energy usage
- Conducting energy analysis on Revit in the early design stage to figure out which parts heavily affect overall building energy consumption and consider design change accordingly.
Goal 2: Using Reusable Materials for deconstruction or repurpose
- Measure: What percentage of materials are reusable
- Targets:
- minimally acceptable value: 50%
- desired / target value: 80%
- Strategies:
- Using mass timber mainly and considering mass timber + steel structure system for specific space with long span.
- Designing the conference center considering deconstruction or repurpose phase - easy to disassemble, using temporary wall for zoning,

Goal 3: Using Mass Timber for Structure and Façade
- Measure: What percentage does mass timber replace steel and concrete?
- Targets:
- minimally acceptable value: 50%
- desired / target value: 60%
- Strategies:
- Analyzing mass timber construction projects, especially using it as a structured system to maximize the use of mass timber and benchmarking the design idea from them.
- Designing the space with the proper size grid for minimizing the use of steel and replacing steel structures with mass timber
