Here is a general idea of the building elements I hope to incorporate within my building design.

Building Layout

Although I have made great progress with the development of my building, I am actively modifying my design to capture all of the building elements I hope to incorporate. I am not yet happy with my building, but with more research and practice, I believe I will be able to design a building I feel proud of.

Floor Plan Level I:

Levels I and II slightly differ as level I reserved a significantly large space for the lobby/main desk area. I have also devoted a large area to the main entrance lobby as I believe a good first impression is imperative to the success of a business — this area will be the most aesthetically pleasing within the building.

Here is the first floor of my building. I have left ample room for large hallways in order to meet ADA regulations and be compliant with the fire department’s regulations on egress paths.

Floor Plan Level II:

This is my second-floor level — I have embedded similar room elements as the first floor but have applied a larger emphasis on the amount of work/study space.

Stairs:

I have included stairs to unite my two floors.

Design Goal for Building Floor Plan:

I hope to emulate various dynamics Trinity Washington University has incorporated within their design, for instance: the inclusion of various differently styled learning rooms and an overall spacious building design. As demonstrated, the building design fosters a comfortable and spacious environment for students to thrive in — there are learning centers of all shapes and sizes, and the overall distribution of the rooms optimizes the building space. Although the building appears to be spacious, it also promotes a feeling of coziness. I believe the selection of furniture I implement within my building will influence the level of comfort within the learning environment.

Ultimately, this is the goal I have for designing my building. I am practicing on sharpening my skills in attempt to emulate the following designs from TWU.
