Part 1
Flexed parameter- top radius of top profile ranging from 70’ to 120’ at intervals of 10’.
Part 2
Flexed parameter- mid depth of middle profile ranging from 50’ to 100’ at intervals of 10’.
Scale comparison of both building desings:
Building Performance Site Requirements:
- Stay within the site development limits:
- Up to 300m (984 feet) wide x 100 meters (328 feet) deep in plan view
- No taller than the site’s height limitation of 230 meters (755 feet).
- part 1 and part building met the width and depth constraints as well as height limit.
- Provide between 2,500,000 and 3,000,000 SF of new floor area.
- part 1 building performance: Height parameter was set at maximum height but the desired floor area was still not reached if following at max width and depth constraints. This was because the building geometry of the premade mass was not optimal for the site dimension constraints.
- part 2 building performance: The height was well under the limit but the new shape was optimized for the site dimensions which allowed for a flex of parameters that reached the desired metrics of floor area while meeting constraints of dimensions.
Points to Ponder: What’s the advantage of exporting the values to Excel?
A node with automatic export of input and output values vs a static copy pasted list provides live update of each run of input parameters. The parameter can be flexed and switched for a new parameter with the same logic or the values can be modified in the node logic and the results would automatically update with the run to reduce room for error and save time.
