Design Journal Entry - Module 11

For this module, I decided to add the systems to part of the 4th floor of the building, where the office and seminar spaces are. I felt that this would be simpler than the larger exhibit spaces, but illustrative of how it would be done for the entire building.

The below screenshot shows the outlet circuits. There is an electrical panel located in the utility room that handles all of the different circuits. I used standard double outlets and tried to place them within 12 feet of each other as recommended.

Next I did the lighting fixtures. I first went into the architectural model and placed drop ceilings in all of these spaces. The final building model will have ceilings in these spaces as well as the offices at the south end, and the corridors would remain exposed. While not modeled, the lighting fixtures in areas without drop ceilings would require some sort of hanging attachment from the above floor/roof. Th fixtures I used were 2x4, which was the same size as the specified ceiling panels.

Here is a rendering of the large seminar space from the lights. We can see that the room is well lit! (I had an issue with having no “cloud rendering tokens” so I was only able to perform a standard rendering and not the illumination one)

Lastly here is the schedule that shows all of the fixtures. I utilized a 225 amp panel, and we can see that the total is below this capacity.
