I want to explore …

  • Sustainability: I want my building to be LEED certified because it is going to located in a natural preserve. I want it to be semi/completely off grid and self-sustainable. A space where researches can stay for days and have all the equipment and tools to do their work. I believe having a remote environment will create a space for deep focus. I would love to incorporate solar or water energy into the design since it will be located in California.
  • Adaptable: The aesthetic of the building should blend into the environment. Incorporating wood and natural sunlight is a key feature. Also, I want to explore natural shapes and incorporate them into the project.

  • Modularity: Since the research center will be a public and private use space, I believe having modular units will help create separation between the spaces.
