The Hammer Museum

The Hammer does a lot of free events, such as the one pictured above, that I went to last summer. This was one of their free summer concerts in collaboration with UCLA students. What I really like about the Hammer Museum is how the spaces are very flexible. This area filled with people is normally just a courtyard, but it has the capability to have a stage set up and be a venue. As you can see, people can watch the show from the ground or from the second floor overlooking. There is also a restaurant on the ground floor, where a bar and seating are in the courtyard area. They also had an indoor reception area, a room on the group floor that was set up as a photo booth, and rooms on the second floor that had various arts and crafts set up for people to take part in.

The Getty

Another LA museum. I really like the Getty because it has beautiful outdoor spaces, great views of Los Angeles, and great natural light. I also like how the cafeteria and coffee stand are open to the outdoors. There is a lot of outdoor seating that is semi-covered, so you can have shade or coverage from a rare rainy day. I like having the buildings surrounding a central green space, whether that be a smaller courtyard like the Hammer or a larger area like the Getty.
