Description
The proposed addition building design follows a modern approach, while still keeping some original elements from the existing building. It adopts more use of windows and curtain walls to allow plenty of light filtration, something very important for for collaborative and socializing areas. It maintains the use of the color of the ceiling and exterior walls, as well as window types. The first and second levels contain all the design guidelines with many student rooms, necessary elements, and collaborative spaces. The third level features the student exhibition room for student projects. The round shape allows for a flow around the room as projects are exhibited, and the glass walls allow for ample interior light. The patio area outside can be used as additional collaborative space and for dining purposes. The annex is connected to the existing building through a glass corridor and this only require the demolition of one arch, which turned to the main entrance, and the addition of the door on the second level, for minimum disruption and demolition on the existing structure.
