Description
I decided on this sort of U-shape for my building with the entrance leading into the main workspace. I recognize the building is a bit bigger than 500 SF, but I thought 560 SF was okay to push. The storage closet and the ADA compliant bathroom are on the west side. On the front of the building, the south side, I used glass doors and placed several windows for natural heating and cooling. On the sloped roof I added PV panels for energy. The bathroom has more than a 5 foot diameter for turnaround space and all of the hallways are at least 50” wide to be ADA compliant. The doorways are also greater than 32” in width. The only place that doesn’t have large vertical windows in the research facility is the bathroom for privacy. The lab benches and desks are configured in an open floor plan set up to help with natural light throughout the space.
