For the engineering commons I designed, I decided to make the building a ‘hamburger’ shape. Levels 2 and 3 are not stacked vertically to level 1 and roof. This way, I want to make the commons exterior more interesting, which might relax students. For the dining spaces, there are a total of 6 outdoor dining spaces that allow students to enjoy the view while having casual talks with their friends. In this building, most of the rooms are round, and there are TVs/screens on the outer wall. To present students’ scientific posters and projects, I created a public gallery space on the third floor so that when students are walking around, they could also view other students’ work.
