  • For 2 or More Units: Rise and Shine

For part 1, I took a screenshot of the Twitter monkey emoji and transferred the colors of the pixels to the panels on this curved surface, made by defining an arc and extruding it in the Z dimension. You can control the size and height of the arc via number sliders.

Next up, for my serpentine wall I developed a sine wave and similarly to part 1, extruded it in the Z dimension. Number sliders control the amplitude factor and the number of waves factor. I added these panels and transferred a colorful mural pattern onto them by pixel. I had the closer to red colors be wider panels, and the closer to blue colors be less wide panels. It looks nice and climbable, and I kind of wish it real.

  • For 3 or More Units: Gonna Need Shades

For stage 2, I made a two-level building by defining a rectangle with length and width (ajdustable) and translating a duplicate rectangle, the distance (negative or positive) based on the output of a number slider. Following the workflow, the perimeter was separated into separate curves, extruded, and panelized with 1 panel in the vertical direction. The number of panels horizontally can be adjusted via a number slider, as well. Then for the first level, I visualized the relative sun-directness of each panel with the more direct being yellow and less direct being pink. For the second level, I switched it up with a monochrome, from white being most sun-direct to black being less. For the final step, I used the sun setting node to have the panel orientation react to the level of sun-directness, closing up to provide more shade when the sun hits. Below is the result at two different times of day.
