This design is a model of a field research station for students at a local biological reserve. The main focus of this design was sustainability through passive solar design features. The roof is sloped and south-facing so that solar panels can generate electricity and reduce the total energy consumption. There are also many operable windows so that sunlight can filter in and warm the space and the windows can even be opened to allow a breeze in and cool the space if needed. Along the roof, there are also 3 skylight windows to further brighten and warm the research station. Inside the research facility there are three work desks, a space for meetings, a room for storage, and a bathroom that is ADA compliant.
