Design inspiration
The China Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo, nicknamed the "Crown of the Orient", was designed by Chinese architect He Jingtang and his team. It represents the essence of Chinese culture and the image of urban development, while embodying the aesthetics of traditional wooden architecture.
The design of the China Pavilion is mainly inspired by traditional Chinese wooden architecture, especially the ancient mortise and tenon construction. This type of structure does not use any nails or glue, but is connected to each other by mortise and tenon joints and mortise and tenon joints between the wood. The cascading, upward-facing roof form of the China Pavilion is inspired by ancient Chinese pagodas and temples, reflecting China's long history and deep cultural heritage.
It is also derived from the traditional "arch" structure of classical Chinese architecture, an ancient architectural element commonly used in the eaves of palaces, temples and gardens. It usually consists of cross-stacked beams that support the roof and transmit weight. This structure is amplified and reinterpreted in the China Pavilion, creating an architectural image that is modern and culturally rich at the same time.
In 2010, I participated in the Shanghai World Expo, when I saw the China Pavilion, I felt deeply shocked, its structure is different from other buildings, the idea of layer by layer, Chinese red wooden rods cross each other to support each other, full of design sense of the windows, all of them make me feel that this kind of building appearance is very distinctive. When I entered the pavilion, the hot summer day was instantly cooled down, and after fully understanding it, I realized that the design of the building was both energy-efficient and functional, providing full convenience for people. That's why I want to do this kind of design.
Big design ideas
1. Use of aluminum grating as the basic mechanism material
Appearance decoration: The use of aluminum grille can form a decorative effect with a modern sense. Different styles and colors of aluminum grille make the building present dynamic visual effects under different angles and lights, creating a unique fusion of Chinese culture and modern art. Shading Facilities: By adopting different densities and shapes of aluminum grilles, direct sunlight can be blocked at different times to avoid excessive light or darkness in the room and improve the comfort of the indoor environment. This not only helps to reduce energy consumption, but also provides visitors with a more comfortable visiting experience. Environmental value: As a recyclable building material, aluminum grille can fully reflect its environmental value. Its use reduces the use of natural resources and energy consumption, lowers carbon emissions, and contributes to the cause of environmental protection. Structural support: It not only provides structural support for buildings, but also plays a dual role in exterior decoration and sun-shading facilities.
2. Structural design of multi-storey roofs from large to small
In Shanghai, where there are four distinct seasons, all kinds of weather may occur during the exhibition, and this form creates a natural shade from the sun and rain and ventilation and heat removal from the upper to the lower floors in summer, and allows the sun to pass through in winter, reducing the heating load. The hall below the four pillars of the China Pavilion is a ventilated space in the east, west, south and north, so that people visiting the pavilion can feel the free airflow forming a comfortable and relaxing environment.
3. Adoption of new energy technologies and green materials at the building skin level (glass, roofs, etc.)
The exterior wall materials of the China Pavilion can be made of non-radioactive and non-polluting green products, and all the doors and windows use low energy-consuming LOAM-E double-glass, which not only reflects heat, reduces energy consumption and has good ventilation performance, but also sprays a kind of coating on the exterior of the skin, which converts sunlight into electricity and stores it to provide energy for the lighting of the building's exterior wall, and the lighting is also not affected in any way. Moreover, the observation deck on the roof of the China Pavilion can also introduce the most advanced solar film, which stores sunlight and converts it into electricity, and the exterior walls are also equipped with solar cells to ensure the provision of energy, so that the embassy can realize self-sufficiency in electricity for lighting.
Specific measures are: (1) The wall adopts new and efficient thermal insulation and adiabatic materials such as rock wool, glass wool, polystyrene plastic, polyurethane foam and polyethylene plastic, as well as composite walls, to reduce the heat transfer coefficient of the external wall. (2) Adopt measures such as increasing the number of window glass layers, adding transparent polyester film on windows, installing door and window seals, using low-E glass, encapsulated glass and plastic windows with good heat insulation performance, etc., so as to improve the heat insulation performance of doors and windows and effectively block the heat conduction between indoor air and outdoor air. (3) Double-layer curtain wall technology can be used, with adjustable sunshade in the middle, and can be ventilated in a way that effectively shades the sun and ventilates heat in summer, and allows the sun to pass through in winter, reducing the heating load.
4. Incorporation of recycled self-cleaning elements.
The rainwater collection system designed on the roof of the National Pavilion, where rainwater is purified and used to wash the toilets and vehicles, can realize the recycling of rainwater; in the water landscape of the south side of the regional pavilion on the big steps and the garden design of the south side, the small-scale artificial wetland technology is introduced, and the self-cleaning ability of the artificial wetland is utilized to provide ecological landscape for the local environment of the city without the need for a large amount of land. The artificial wetland can be used to provide an ecological landscape for the local urban environment without requiring a large amount of land.
5. Increase green areas.
The green design of a building can be spatialized: planters, pots, walls, roofs. Green roof technology can be used to add roof soil or greenery to achieve sustainable and environmentally friendly energy efficiency.
