Wood framing is used for this practice. The columns used are sized at 16x16. The grid beams are also sized at 16x16, and the joint beams are sized at 14x16. The joint beams are placed 6 inches apart from each other in the beam system. No columns accidentally cover elevators or stairs. Only two columns are placed in the open dining area, which could also be used as space dividers or architectural design elements.
