Key Findings from the Interview

• When it comes to sustainability
• What do they care most about?
• When he was asked about sustainability, he was not sure what it meant. After explaining the term, he said that he probably cared most about keeping the environment clean.
• What are they doing now?
• Right now, he uses reusable water bottles and does not turn on lights or air conditioning unless he needs to. One interesting thing he does is that when he fishes, he throws the fish back into the water if it is not an invasive species,
• What would they like to be able to do?
• In the future, he would like help plant more trees and get solar power for his home, but only if it is the cheaper option. He says he would do more for the environment but only if it was the less expensive option.
• Any reservations / concerns about sustainability?
• He was skeptical about why he needed to be worried about this because his initial understanding was that climate change and pollution was not going to be a problem for his generation. After explaining that it will be a problem for us, he said jokingly (I hope) that it would be cool to live through an apocalypse. This just seems to be harmless joking but I think that the lack of care comes from a lack of knowledge on the subject.
