Module 10 - Plumbing Systems

General Plumbing Strategy

I chose to keep my bathrooms outside, and only on the first floor in order to minimize the need for walls inside the main rooms that would obstruct the flow of natural ventilation. This allowed me to have ample space for the bathrooms. The space is not wasted, as the bathrooms also serve as support for the outdoor stairs. The ample spacing made it relatively simple to place the piping in the bathrooms.

Plumbing Elements and Systems

There are two bathrooms, each with three regular stalls, and one ADA stall. There are also four sinks in each bathroom.

Challenges/ Possible Future Improvements

I placed the supply hot and cold water under the floor. In retrospect, this was probably not the best idea, as it would require a high amount of pressure, or a motor to supply plumbing elements.

Additionally, I could decrease the distance between the supply lines and the sinks, in order to decrease the total amount of pipe that will be needed. Alternatively, I could provide an additional supply that goes to the side walls.
