Interior view - Level 4 (Cafe & Dining) Preview
To showcase the design of my power system and lighting system elements I decided to select five exemplary spaces of my building: the first exhibition space in floor 1, and the cafe & dining, gift shop, final exhibition space, and kid area spaces in floor 4.
- 💡⚡ For both power and lighting systems I have used a lighting and appliance panelboard of type 400A, 208V MCB, Three Phase, 4 Wires, Wye.
- ⚡ For the power system, I have placed in each space duplex receptacle standard electrical fixtures elevated 1’ 6” from the floor.
- 💡 The lighting systems are characterized by a thoughtfully selected array of fixtures. For example, the cafe and dining area on level 4 feature five pendant light hemisphere fixtures strategically positioned to illuminate the dining tables, complemented by one pendant lighting fixture elegantly placed above the cafe bar cabinetry area. Additionally, the ambiance is enhanced by twelve recessed can downlights, contributing to a soft and inviting atmosphere throughout the space. The lighting schedule of the aforementioned space is shown below for completeness.
The final design is depicted in the images below. Note that I have used panel in floor 1, and two panels in floor 4.

The table below provides information on the average estimated illumination (in footcandles) for various spaces within the specified levels of the building, as well as their targets:
Level | Name | Avg. Estim. Illumination | Target Illumination | Target Type |
Level 4 | Café & Dining | 18 fc | 15 fc | Lunch & Break Rooms |
Level 4 | Gift Shop | 37 fc | 40 fc | Retail Spaces |
Level 4 | Final Exhibition Space | 34 fc | 30 fc | Exhibition spaces |
Level 4 | Kid Area – Classroom | 37 fc | 40 fc | Classroom |
Level 1 | First Exhibition Space | 31 fc | 30 fc | Exhibition spaces |
From the table it is evident how all the spaces taken into consideration for the power and lighting design meet the specified target footcandles for their respective space types, indicating that the existing power electricity anf lighting fixtures are appropriately designed and placed.

Challenges
The only challenge that I have encountered was a conflict between a door in the architectural plan and a duplex receptacle fixture. I resolved the conflict by moving the fixture.
