For this design project, I used steel for the structural system. A steel system allowed for greater distances between beams which allowed for a more open floor plan. I also feel as though the steel that is exposed adds a nice “rawness” and “rustic” feeling to the space which makes it more unique. I made sure to not place beams in locations such as stairways, elevators, or atria to account for the design and use of the building.
