I used a steel frame system as I felt it offered the best spacing considering the open spaces in this structure. In the two screenshots above, I showed the only columns not able to be hidden in the walls. Considering the size of steel, I think they do not break up the open spaces much if at all. There were no clashes with blocking elevators, stairs, hallways, or doors. I think that the larger span lengths of the steel system enabled appropriate spacing and for the designer’s intent to carry through unhindered. Plus, the light and modern steel columns may even add to the metal tables and stairwell the designer had. I used a mostly rectangular system that worked around the openings and any circulation paths I did not want to block.
