Key Findings from the Interview
- Would you prefer a service to be an app or a web-based application?
My interview partner stated that it depends on the service and the device she is using for that service. She gave the example of Netflix where she tends to watch it from her iMac using the desktop version, but whenever she watches it from her television, she is using the app. Another example she gave was her financial broker Scalable Capital. She is using Scalable as app when using her iPhone, but is using Scalable as a web-based application when she is working on her iMac.
- Does it has any impact on the frequency you are using the service, if it is only useable as an app?
- In how far do you mind sharing private information related to the service use?
For her it doesn't make a huge difference. She mentioned examples such as electric roller where some brands are only offering apps and no real web-applications, but she understands the reasoning behind it and uses the app nevertheless quite frequently.
My interview partner felt annoyed by services constantly asking her to track her activities across different apps (e.g. Google or Facebook). She felt like she would need to share her entire private life, which is against her will.
