Our Testing Protocol / Script for the Testing Sessions

💡
Outline your testing protocol--a description of the steps that anyone on your team can follow to gather feedback from testing. It should include the following sections. IMPORTANT - You should not explain all the features of your product or lead your users thru a demonstration of its design features. For truly useful feedback, allow your users to interact with your prototypes and discover its features. Try to be an observer, not a tour guide. Answer any questions that come up as users interact with the prototypes, but keep in mind that asking "what do think will happen?" or "how do you think that might work?" will solicit very useful information about what's going on in the user's mind. Don't try to sell or pitch your product to your users. You're not trying to convince them that your product is good. Rather, you're hoping to learn from observing and hearing how they feel about your product. Then, after users have had a chance to explore your prototypes, you can ask about any specific issues that you'd like them to share their feedback on.

What will you share with your users to interact with?

For each feature that you're testing, how will you use your prototypes?

  • Sample of the algae that we would use—> makes the process seem more tangible to the user so that they understand where it is coming from
  • Sample piece of cloth that is dyed with our dye —> shows users effectiveness of dye and what it can do
  • A sample of the dye (in a bottle) —> users get to see the product itself

For each feature that you're testing, how will you use your prototypes?

  • Sketches of dye, dyeing process, name, plan, etc.

What will you ask them to do?

What will you ask users to do with your prototypes?

  • If able to, we can show factories fabrics/clothing made with our dye, and let them touch it and test the texture.
  • If able to, we can SHOW factories how exactly we make our dye (show them the non-toxic materials/process)
  • If able to, we can give factory a sample of the dye and allow them to dye a piece of cloth for themselves/learn how to with our dye!

What will you ask users to do with your prototypes?

  • We will explain what the product is and show them images to describe it

What will you observe?

What you will be observing and noting as you watch users interact with your prototypes?

  • Assess the level of interest in the factories (users), seeing if there is high interest and a hope for use of our product / Look at users' expressions and thoughts, ask if they would actually use this product
  • Observe if it has any impacts on the user (coughing, tearing up, really bad smell, etc) / note 2
  • We will observe their reactions to what we are saying and the pictures, but we will get better feedback once we ask them our questions (since you can't physically interact with it)
  • Observe criticism or confusion they may have for our product.

What will you ask them to share feedback on after the testing?

What questions will you ask your users after they've had a chance to interact with and explore your prototypes?

  • How did anything given off from the dye compare to standard dyes that you use? Any feelings of toxic ingredients or harmful substances in the dyes that you saw/came in contact with?
  • Do you feel that the dye performs the same functions as conventional dyes? Does the dye feel effective and legitimate?
  • Do you feel that the dye was easy-to-use and efficient? Did it inconvenience you or the process of dying in any way?
  • Let them wear our cloth and test its comfort and satisfaction? → smell, comfort
