For this module, the first thing I did was use the feedback I got with last week’s submission and I updated my stairs and exhibit space to feel more open. Now the main stair is a lot wider and more inviting, and the exhibit spaces have wall openings rather than small doors, allowing occupants to move around more freely. The view of the third floor below shows both of these features.

Now, I moved onto the floors. I set a metal deck with lightweight concrete system, since it is typical for steel buildings. I drew the areas on each floor, leaving openings for elevators, stairs, and utility shafts.

I ended up inputting door locations in the last module, but for this one I slightly updated the interior door paint color, as well as made exterior doors glass.

The interior walls did not change much and used standard interior partition walls. For the exterior walls, I made them standard exterior walls (EIFS on metal stud). In the future I may want to find more elaborate walls to use, but for this module I was mainly focused on the windows and curtain walls.

For the windows, I utilized embedded storefronts and tried to come up with an interesting facade design. The challenges with this were working around my interior floor plan so that windows did not intersect walls, making the window locations would generally make sense, and trying to keep the look aesthetically pleasing. I used curtain walls along the entrance on the first floor and for the walls that led into the balcony on the third floor. For the rest of the walls, the location of the windows can be seen in the below views.

Lastly, I added railings on the balcony and an enclosed space for the outdoor kids area. For the enclosed space I used a floor to ceiling railing element since it seemed to be able to work the best with the available tools. In the future I may try to find a better way to do this.

In terms of sun control, the overhangs provide good shade in those areas, and the corridor on the sun-facing sides (the walls without the overhangs) are intended to be natural light corridors, so I did not think and shading features were necessary.
