I think that French gardens (the gardens of versailles pictured) are a balance between precision and nature, much like buildings. Gardens like these are designed thoroughly so that every tree and hedge look presentable, and each plant comes together to create something much bigger. But not matter how much planning you do, there will always be small imperfections in nature, and the trees and bushes will grow out of shape. I think that buildings are similar in that here are many moving parts in a building system, and with many parts comes many opportunities for small flaws. Our job as engineers and designers is to minimize the flaws and try and make building systems as seamless as possible.
