  • Adrían is a 27 year old farmworker who migrated to Half Moon Bay from Guadalajara, Mexico to work in the brussels sprout fields. He lives with 9 other farmworkers in a 5-room, barracks-style house; although the house is in need of repair, all of the appliances work, and he is thankful that his living conditions are better than some of his peers.
  • Maria is 33-year old farmworker and a mother who lives in one side of a 2-bedroom mobile home with her 2 kids and husband; the other bedroom is occupied by another farmworker family. Maria wishes that her family had more privacy and that her children had a place to study.
  • Reese is an unemployed 20 year old in the Stage 2 of the Autism spectrum; they live in New York City with their mom and, after high school, had trouble holding down a job; social situations at McDonalds and at the Hardware store where they worked were stressful.
  • Aiden is a 3rd generation farm owner who runs a pumpkin farm in Pescadero; he provides housing for his employees but is worried that the unpermitted housing that he offers his workers at an inexpensive cost puts him at risk of labor violations, since there is additional scrutiny from the county after the mass-shooting.
  • Kerrigan is a San Mateo Sheriff officer who works the Coastside in San Mateo County. She frequently responds to calls from suburban residents complaining about gatherings including music and drinking late at night in a small house that seems to be occupied by more than ten people.
  • Allen is a firefighter who works in Half Moon Bay; he is concerned about fire risk in the after being called to put out a small fire resulting from a cooking accident from a propane camp stove a container home at the Mountain Mushroom farm.
  • Dustin is a garbageman working in Half Moon Bay; his Thursday route in the suburban neighborhoods are convenient since garbage, recycling, and compost are neatly sorted into three bins. However, his Monday route to collect from farms frequently fails because unsorted garbage overflows from the bins and is frequently dumped on the roadside.
  • Christina is a social worker working at Alas, a nonprofit helping farmworkers in Half Moon Bay; she is struggling to find housing for displaced farmworker families because it seems that all of the small rental homes and ADUs in the city are are rented to tech workers for over the monthly income of her farmers.
