Point of View Statement

💡
Kristin, mother of two young children, and the home chef, needs a way to monitor food freshness and keep track of when the groceries in her refrigerator are going to spoil — with the use on an app and temperature/humidity sensor technology she can finally keep track of food freshness and reduce the amount of food waste her household creates.

Minimum Viable Product

💡
Create low-cost temperature/humidity sensors designed to be inserted in food containers (plastic bags, tupperware, pyrex) to track and monitor the shelf life of foods in your refrigerator. The sensors will communicate with a main hub via low power bluetooth technology and the hub will transfer data to your mobile app via wifi connection.

The simplest version of this product that delivers value and meets the challenges of this POV statement will have these essential features:

  • Temperature, Humidity, and Bacteria sensing technology
  • Hyper-local food tracking and management for individual foods
  • Hub allows you to monitor overall fridge temperature and also has built-in ethylene filter
  • Magnetic base attachment that allows you to connect a sensor to a drawer or to a glass shelf or non-magnetic surface
