You can break a site Toposolid into subregions using two methods:
- Subdividing — creates a separate region whose geometry (contour lines) is still driven by the terrain of the Toposolid. This is useful for adding a road or path on the contours without changing the terrain.
- Splitting — breaks the Toposolid into two completely separate pieces. The split area becomes a new Toposolid whose geometry initially matches the original Toposolid. But you can edit the points that define the new Toposolid without affecting the area outside the split. This is useful when you're modifying the terrain in a specific area of the site.
When you subdivide or split a Toposolid, you can assign different materials to each area.
