When you import a Revit model from Forma Building Design, it includes the geolocation — the latitude, longitude, and rotation — to accurately position the model on the globe.
To accurately align your linked discipline models to this architectural model, you must:
- Choose the Auto - Project Base Point to Project Base Point positioning option in the Import/Link RVT dialog.
- This will align your models in Revit, and the models will share the same Project Base Point (the XYZ origin for each model).
- Use Manage > Project Location > Acquire Coordinates to copy the geolocation from your linked model.
- This will align your model to the same latitude, longitude, and rotation on the globe. This shared Survey Point will accurately position the models for Model Coordination.
Workflow
- When linking to another model, always:
- Choose the Auto - Project Base Point to Project Base Point positioning option in the Import/Link RVT dialog.
- In your new linked discipline model, switch to the Default {3D} view.
- Zoom to Fit (ZF) to bring the bounds of the linked architectural model into the view.
- Open the Manage > Project Location > Coordinates > Acquire Coordinates tool.
- Select the linked architectural model, which has the coordinates to acquire. When you hover over the edges of the linked model, a blue box will appear. Click it.
- If successul, Revit will report that the coordinates have been acquired from the linked model.
